Some of my Final Puppy Posts

These are some of our final days with the puppies.
They were 8 weeks old yesterday so in the last week, our
litter has dwindled down to just one puppy left.

I got to thinking that Huck doesn't get enough
credit on here.

Afterall, he is their father.
We have heard plenty about Sandy and how
wonderful she is,
and how well she takes care of her puppies,
and what a true champ and hero she is for
battling back after a c-section,
blah, blah, blah...

I thought that if Huck ever saw this, his confidence might be
altered due to the fact that all of his parenting
efforts have gone unnoticed.
And this can be very discouraging as a father and
for the male ego, and for a dog who already has low self-esteem.

So while he may have hated this photo session and growled
some of a the time, he did it.
He tolerated his offspring toddling around his feet.
And maybe the puppy finally realized he'd better leave before something bad happened, but it didn't.
Huck did well and proved that he is a good daddy!

From there, the puppies went to their ever so awesome mother who I've bragged about all this time.
She now wants nothing to do with them.

In an effort to keep them from trying to nurse, she sits in the dog water.

"Alright, you can have a drink of the water.  But that's it!"
Don't judge her people.  She's put in her time.
If this is the only way she can keep them off of her, I say she is a smart dog.
