Still no puppies.

But you'll be happy to know that Sandy is resting
happily,

and had a good breakfast this morning.

It was waffles.
She was happy.

Yesterday we took Sandy to the vet.  She was given an antibiotic for  an infection.  The ultrasound shows no harm to the unborn puppies! Her temperature has dropped which, if she's like most dogs, means she'll have these pups sometime in the next 24 hour period.

What?
My son?
Yeah, I'm sure he is picking his nose.

I would like to invite you to join our group on facebook.  You can also Like us on facebook.

Hopefully my next update will be of lots of tiny, rat-like, creatures and a thinner Sandy!

Work Dogs

It's not all about fun and swimming here in the country.  There's work to be done.

Like when it's time to haul hay.  This is my mom, my niece, and Annie.  All are obviously ready to do some serious work.

This is my brother and I think my nephew on top of the truck.  I'm driving, my sister-in-law did the photographing.  And the dogs in the corner are of course...working.

This is my brother and dad and my niece, nephew, and oldest son.  And again the dogs...working.

This is my brother trying to tell me how to drive, while my dad obviously lets the kids do whatever they want, and Huck is in front waiting to get on with the task at hand.

This just looks exhausting.

Where are my son's shoes?

Where are the other kids' shoes?

I had no idea kids were jumping on and off the truck while I was driving!!!

Getting dark but the dogs continue herding the hay bales.

And that's how it's done.
And no one got hurt.
In fact, some of them were in the truck with me...sleeping.

Today's Trip to the River

Disregard my lame post yesterday.  Ya know, the one without pictures.  We went back today I took my camera because I was just sure no one believed me.

I knew no one would believe Apolla went
out into the river by herself,
and posed for me.

Again, just ran in there like she'd done it
1,000 times.

No fear at all.

They even sat up front in the
canoe.
Who's the other puppy?  That's Annie.
There goes Apolla, swimming away,

right past me,

right past the other dogs,

no help needed,

she swam all the way across!

She got right out,

and shook off,

and I'm pretty sure she went and collapsed for a nap for the next
two hours.

This is not like me to post without pictures.  I believe that the pictures should speak 1,000 words, not me.  But in fear of ruining my camera today, I left it behind.  We don't believe in spending all our time in the house during the summer and since it was pretty hot here today, we loaded up and went to the river.

We took the kids and dogs with the exception of Sandy, who is at home on bedrest.  We took Apolla, our last 9 week old puppy.  She did so great, I regretted not bringing my camera almost as soon as we got there.  She waded out in the water by herself and swam across the river!  It was wonderful, so effortless, so quick!

Huck hit another milestone too.  While he likes the river and water, he usually only swims when he has to or accidentally gets too deep.  He generally likes to run and splash.  But today as we were floating around in our canoe, he swam right behind us the whole time.  We were so proud.

It almost would have been worth ruining the camera for some of the pictures I could have gotten.

Since there's one puppy left we
decided to pretend it's ours and start
torturing her...
I mean training her.

torturing?

Well, whatever, it didn't work well.

But she didn't seem to hate us in the end.

Luke seemed to have better luck.
We are enjoying having Apolla around.  Things aren't quite as lonely.

No More Puppies

All but one puppy went to their new homes this weekend.  It has been a very quiet day.

No more puppies all over the place.

No more tearing up stuff,

or chewing up everything,

or occupying the entire yard.

I'm not sure everyone is totally sad
about this.

If I didn't know better, I'd think Candy
might actually be enjoying herself.  I think
our girls think of this as their bubble bath.

We Need Rain

While it's true, we could use some rain, the puppies didn't seem to mind that we'd hooked up the sprinkler.

"What's this?"
"I don't know, we better stay away."

"Move back, I'll go check it out."

"It got me!"

"Are we supposed to drink from this?"

"You don't scare me sprayee thing!"

This is the weekend we say goodbye to most of our puppies.  It has been so fun having them.

My nieces and nephew came yesterday
to see the puppies before they all went home.
They have been a lot of entertainment
for lots of kids!

And then there were six...

We are down to 6 puppies.  Three have gone off to their loving homes.
Today is also their birthday.
Happy 8 week birthday, puppies!!!
Off to get you some more shots today.

This picture makes it look like the
place is fairly calm and quiet now.
WRONG
(Bear and Sally maybe???)

So does this one.
(Mater)

This doesn't look too bad either.
(Apolla/Hollie)

This is starting to look more like the
real thing.

Sam finished up baseball season
Monday and actually came home
before dark.

He was greeted properly.

Mia

I think this is the last picture I have
of Lightning.  He is with his new
family now.

Mia

Linus, taking it easy.
Our days are numbered with these guys.  This weekend will be filled with anxious pet owners coming to retrieve their retriever!  Happy Wednesday!
