Fun Facts:

- Golden Retrievers are the second most commonly registered breed in the A. K. C.  Only the Lab     outranks them in popularity.

-  The first three dogs to win the AKC Obedience Champion Title were Golden Retrievers.

-  Golden Retrievers are ranked third among the most intelligent breed of dog after the Border Collie and the Poodle.

-  Golden Retrievers are considered to be the best breed of service dog.

-  Golden Retrievers need a lot of attention or else they actually get sad and lonely.  They are very social dogs and need interaction with people or other dogs frequently.

-  Golden Retrievers life expectancy is 12-14 years but they have been known to live to up to 16.

-  If a Golden Retriever does not exercise often, it can actually become very sick from it.  It is important to let them out to play and take them for walks.


-  Golden retrievers are some of the best swimmers among all dog breeds.  They were bred to navigate through all different terrains (including water) to retrieve game and fowl.  
-  Golden Retrievers are much lighter as puppies than they are as adults.  The color of their fur on the puppy's ears is a good indicator.

-  Goldens have a high pain tolerance--this makes them suitable for rescue work, police work, and hunting.

-  Goldens have a very soft mouth.  They are able to retrieve and carry a variety of objects (including live creatures) without damaging them.
