FAQs

I've created a Frequently Asked Questions page.  I want this website to have all your answers so you don't have to call and listen to me ramble with my boys screaming in the background.  There's no telling what I've told some people over the phone when that happens.

1.  What are the parents of the dogs like?
In this case, I would send you to the Huck page and the Candy and Sandy page.  But that only has pictures and the Candy and Sandy pics need updated anyway.  Huck is big and beautiful, about 90 lb.  He's dark red and has the big head.  He's a shy dog but bonds with us.  He's especially fond of Sam.

Candy is a smaller dog, about 50 lbs.  She's medium in color and has a smaller head than Huck.  With her small frame, we are always amazed that she can carry so many puppies.  She's calm, obedient, sweet, and quiet.

Annie is very blonde and also a smaller sized female.  She's around 60 lb.  She has some English cream bred into her.  She is a great companion.  I'm glad she has so many playmates here.

2.  What do we feed them?
The puppies get Diamond All Naturals Puppy Chow. This picture is not of the All Naturals we feed.  The mamas also get this when they're pregnant and nursing.  That way it gets in their system and makes for an easier transition on the puppies when they start eating food.
When the mamas are nursing so many puppies they also get this along with their puppy chow.

Our adults get the Hi
Energy stuff.  Boy do we go through the dog food here!

3.  When should we take the puppy home?
The American Kennel Club prefers the puppy to stay with their litter and mother for eight weeks.  We've seen that it makes for an easier transition on the puppy and the owner.  The puppy is older and more mature for the adjustment.

4.  Do we ship or deliver puppies?
Yes.  We have yet to ship a puppy though.  The cost of the kennel, flight, fuel, and time will be taken into consideration when flying a puppy.
We have delivered puppies and met people half way to deliver them before.  We took a puppy all the way to Virginia this summer!
Again, the cost of fuel, time, and lodging (if necessary) will be taken into consideration.

5.  What vaccinations will my puppy have had when I get him/her?
We begin giving an oral dose of dewormer at 4 weeks of age and then continue every 2 weeks after that.  We give them their 6 week vaccination of distempter, parvo-virus, etc.  When you come to get the puppy we usually give them the second round of vaccinations on that day (8 weeks).  We'll keep this recorded and give you the paper when you take the puppy home.  You will need to get the 3rd round of shots at 12 weeks along with a rabies vaccine and probably more dewormer.

6.  Will my puppy be looked at by a vet?
Yes, I take them in for vet checks at around 7 weeks.  I will give you a copy of the Health Certificate when you pick up your puppy.

7.  Will my puppy get American Kennel Club (AKC) registration papers?
Yes.  We register the litter and the AKC sends us the paperwork for each puppy.  When you pick up your puppy we'll give you those papers.  Registration is easy.  You can mail in the papers or do it online.  There's a fee for registering a puppy.

8.  How do you think the puppy/dog will do around my small children?
I think your puppy will be fine!  You might watch out for those sharp puppy teeth getting caught on clothing though.  Try to keep plenty of chew toys around for him/her to play with.  Otherwise, he/she will go for the kids' toys...I've seen it a million times.

9.  How big will the puppies get?
I would send you to Past Litters & Comments or our facebook group for those answers.

10.  Are we going to have any more kids?
NO.
Wait, what?
Oh, sorry.  That's just what people I know ask me.
And that short, quick answer was my husband's...ignore him.
