Mystery at F. F. R.

Mystery At F. R. R.:

Thursday morning Leo Huggy appeared with a large knot on his head.  It was very mysterious.  I took him to the vet.  The vet thought it was mysterious.  She said it appeared to have come from a hit on the head or something.

I began playing out the events of the past couple days in my head trying to remember if I'd seen anything.
What could have caused that bump?
Perhaps it was Bubby Girl or Kissy rough housing with him?

Perhaps it was Annie, our older puppy?

His own mother???
His own mother!!!
Say it ain't so!
Mystery solved.
I'm off to call Social Services.

This weekend, the puppies will be off to their forever loving homes.  We've learned a lot from these puppies.  I thought that by raising puppies it would teach my boys how to take care of animals. . .

Such as how to handle them.  But it turns out that my son pretended it was an airplane instead.

So we tried again when they got a little older.  I still think he would have pretended it was an airplane if Leo weren't so heavy.

So we moved on to things like feeding them.

I guess it worked, they ate it.

And it didn't seem to hurt them any.
You can thank my 2 year old if your dog ends up loving vegetables.

My older son took on the responsibility of training them.

It's just that he trained them to dig.

I think it's best that these pups leave while they're young
before any of this is instilled in their brains.
But we sure will miss them.

We have had a busy weekend.
Not the dogs necessarily, they've just been focused on keeping cool.
(Leo)

When we let the puppies out, they sneak under our porch and sleep.
This is Leo coming out of about a 4 hour hibernation.
Occasionally they come out to torment Kitty Spotty.

And we try to keep them plenty hydrated.

Cute, little Kissy

At night they come back out and lay around.

It's not as hot then.

These pictures are from our river trip yesterday.

Can't you just see Huck saying "thank you for this" with those eyes?

Ahhh, a sweet ride in the truck!

Ahhh!

See the bird dogs going crazy about that crane (or whatever bird it was) in the sky?

They wouldn't let it land.

We took all the dogs on a long overdue trip to the river yesterday.

I was so proud of the puppies.  None of them showed signs of fear.

They just went right in without hesitating.

I don't think Bubby Girl was as annoyed as she looks.

Maybe she's just annoyed at me and my camera.

Bubby Girl and Leo Huggy sticking close together.

Leo made himself comfortable.

I think he could get used to this.

Leo and Kissy

The other dogs were so excited to get to go for a swim too.  More pictures of them later.

Look at Bubby Girl!!!  She caught me off guard swimming so this was the best I could do as far as a picture.

Notice the pups watching from the bank.

Kissy looks like she has some bird dog potential here!

So does Bubby Girl

The only problem is, trips to the river can wear a puppy out.
I'll be posting more of our little adventure later.

We finally got some rain recently.  I was so excited I held Bubby Girl up to the gray clouds and took a picture.
I just thought I'd throw that up here.
The puppies are 6 weeks old now and Sandy is attempting to wean them.

But the puppies don't want to be weaned yet.

But Sandy doesn't care what the puppies want anymore.

But the puppies won't go down without a fight,

and they won't make it easy on her.

But Sandy won't make it easy on them either.  She's not afraid to bite their heads.

I said she was attempting to wean them...
I didn't say it was a successful attempt.
