Hungry Puppies

The puppies are 5 weeks old today!

Every morning they wake up,
and guess what they do...

They search for food!

They are very skilled pack hunters.
They track their prey (in this case, their mama) and wear them down.
See?
But if that doesn't work, they chose the easy route.

The dog food takes less effort.

And it makes their mama happier.

The snow has melted and temps got back up in the 60s this week.
So we took the puppies outside again.
Guess what they did?

Yep.
Sandy hadn't been in with them all day.
I thought she'd be anxious to get to her puppies as soon as I let her out of the yard.
Nope, she ran down for a swim in the pond first.

Can't say I blame her...

It isn't like they are real welcoming to her when she gets in with them.
They only want one thing these days.

And...
she's done.
She's outta here!
See ya later, puppies!

A Week of Ozarks Weather

One day this past week it was really nice outside.
So we woke up the puppies,
and carried them outside.

It made them hungry,

really hungry.

But they seemed to like it.

They licked my face, I assumed they were saying
thank you.

My son made sure they were nice and warm just in case.
Then he put them down so they could finish eating.

But then it snowed,
so we brought them back in the house.

Back where it was nice and warm.

And we went outside to play.
This is Sam's snowball he was throwing at our children...
he's a little intense.

This was Huck right before he attacked me.

We built a snowman...
but the boys only like to build them so they can knock them over right afterwards.  Otherwise they don't have much use for them.

Huck was being so nice, I decided to see if he'd let me bury him in snow.

He pretty much did.

But I'm not just totally sure he liked it that much.

And then, by some sort of miracle from above...
I managed to get a half way decent picture of the four of us using my timer.
It was amazing!
No one complained,
no silly faces,
the camera stayed focused.
It was like a dream.

So I said, "wait, let me go see if it's a good one."
Luckily it was because as soon as I got up they went back to this.

Sandy took a little break from the puppies to come out and play, and I'm guessing submerge her engorged underside in the cold snow.

Dolly and Huck kept watch over the place.

"Nothin this way,"

"or that way."

"Nothin out there either, not that I wouldn't be the first one to head for the house if there were."
"Hey did anyone bring a sled?"

"Guess we'll just roll down the hill."
And finally,
not to change the subject,
but the puppies are 4 weeks old today.
So happy birthday puppies!
You are so cute!!!

My Son Wants to Drop Out of Preschool

My son is having some problems lately.

He's not been wanting to go to preschool.

He has a new morning routine.
blurry...darn.

And after he gets settled in every morning, he doesn't feel like getting ready.

Plus, he has to hear it from my younger son who comes
home and plays with his puppies.

But eventually he goes off to preschool.

And when he comes home, he picks up
where he left off.

And that's about all I can get him to do for the duration of the day.
